Yoga Mandatory in All Schools of Tamil Nadu For Physical Health of Students, Says CM Palaniswami

Chennai, September 22: Yoga has been made mandatory in all schools of Tamil Nadu to boost the physical and mental strength of students, chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) said on Thursday. The CM did not shell out details of when the programme will be rolled out.

Right after the announcement, the School Education Department of the state urged the students to take part sincerely in the Yoga classes that will be introduced soon as it will act as a shield against the unnecessary online activities.

Tamil Nadu CM made the announcement at the University of Madras while handing out the appointment of more than 2000 graduate teachers. Also, an appointment of 58 special educators was handed out, reported The Hindu. Besides thisEPS underlined the commitment of state government towards giving a fillip to the education sector and in this regard, he highlighted various initiatives.
EPS labelled the appointment of teachers as a milestone and said his government is making all efforts to built a transparent recruit system. Minister for School Education KA Sengottaiyan informed about the newly introduced system that enables teachers to get their appointment letters at pace. He also highlighted that such a process earlier consumed nearly 7 to 8 months, but now the scenario is different.
“Anna Centenary Library would soon be a hub that would prepare students for competitive exams through video conferencing and to make this possible around 10,000 teachers would be trained,” added Sengottaiyan.
